Today in History February 16th

Welcome to the 48th day of the Gregorian Calendar. Thirty-three years ago to this date, Enrique Bermúdez, also known as Comandante 380, was assassinated in Nicaragua’s capital city, Managua.  Bermúdez was the leader of the Nicaraguan Contras, a U.S. backed rebel group fighting against the Marxist Sandinista Junta of the National Reconstruction government in Nicaragua during the Cold War.
