In 1804, during the First Barbary War, a raid is led by Stephen Decatur, in attempt to burn the pirate held ship USS Philadelphia. In the First Barbary War, also known as the Tripolitan War, the United States and Sweden fought against the four African States collectively known as the “Barbary States”.
