In 1617, the Treaty of Stolbovo is signed by Sweden and Russia, ending the Ingrian War and shutting Russia out of the Baltic Sea. The Ingrian war was largely an attempt to put a Swedish duke on the Russian throne, it lasted for seven years, beginning in 1610.
